Using tools in Plug n View 3D to isolate an area of interest

<< Back | 0 1 2 3 | Next >>

Plug n View 3D is medical imaging software which renders a 3D volume from MRI, CT or other scan data. Using this software, the user can zoom, pan, rotate and edit the rendered 3D volume, to examine an Area Of Interest (AOI) in more detail.

In this example, the area of interest is the kidneys. Using a custom software setting, most soft tissues have been hidden in the 3D view. However the AOI is still obscured, by the bones of the ribs and spine (1).

Here we show use of software tools to customise the 3D view and isolate the primary Area Of Interest, to examine and and measure it. (3)

This is a mock-up. Depending on purpose and target audience, a range of approaches and techniques might be used.

The original Plug n View 3D tour was authored in Flash, combining a range of custom illustration, animation and screen capture techniques. Each demo was developed separately from the main text and navigation, for combination at runtime.
